Duties:
The Director of Planned Giving is responsible for developing and implementing planned giving and endowment strategies in alignment with Darlington School’s Strategic Plan. This position is also responsible for the overall implementation, administration and management of Darlington’s endowment and planned giving initiatives, including the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospective donors. The Director of Planned Giving collaborates with the Advancement staff, the planned gifts committee, alumni and others to identify potential donors for planned giving and endowment initiatives. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, with five years of relevant experience, ideally in a development career track with an independent school or small college. A deep appreciation for and an ability to articulate the mission and aspirations of Darlington School. Ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for individual giving. Ability to work with Administration and Volunteers to secure gifts for Darlington. Superior communication skills. Effective written and oral presentation skills. Superior interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain relationships with high potential donors. Strong program development, planning, budgeting, and implementation skills. Desire and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and other staff. A strong work ethic including commitment, honesty, integrity, enthusiasm and perspective. Ability to listen carefully, learn quickly and work effectively in a complex organization. Proficiency with personal computer including MS Office applications and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge. Ability to manage time, multitask and see tasks through to completion. Frequent travel is required.
